While companion characters are a staple of many roleplaying games, like the Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age series; CD Projekt Red has traditionally eschewed this particular feature for their games. Although you might have a character accompany you for a particular mission, there was no formal companion system in The Witcher games. Nor will there be one in Cyberpunk 2077. Fans of The Witcher who wish that such a system existed, may now have a Witcher 3 mod which delivers just that.
The Multi Companion Mod Enhanced Witcher 3 Mod
The “Multi Companion Mod” for the Witcher 3 is not a new mod; it was released on NexusMods some time ago by a modder who goes by Jamezo97. However, another modder, Kingsegg, has now released a brand new “Enhanced” version. The new version changes the placements of most of the companion characters, and also adds banter dialogue to the majority of them. An example of this banter dialogue was posted to YouTube recently; it showcases Lambert making fun of Geralt for his appearance in the original Witcher 3 cinematic trailer.
The Multi Companion Mod Enhanced includes a grand total of 25 different companion characters. These range from core characters like Ciri, Yennefer, and Triss to the likes of Zoltan, Dandelion, and Regis, and even more minor characters like the Bloody Baron and Rosa var Attre. Each of these companions can be found somewhere in the world of The Witcher 3. Most are found somewhere in Velen or Novigrad. Even some of those who would normally appear in DLC regions, such as Regis, will appear in guest rooms at the Rosemary & Thyme instead. Players who download the mod can spawn any of the companions at will using console commands. They can also display companion health bars on the game’s HUD. Plus, players can make companions immortal, and even command them to equip torches or shields.
