Menace, the first of many future models, is an aggressive metal amplifier designed to power guitar sounds and riffs. The Toneforge Menace also includes an integrated impulse response charger to simulate your own cabin/microphone configurations in the signal chain. An additional port at the beginning of the signal chain prevents unwanted noise. The Menace is a very simple plugin. The signal path consists of an overdrive pedal, a Menace amplifier, cabinet, Joey Sturgis Magic, equalizer, and limiter. Everything you need and nothing you don’t need.

The green overdrive pedal will immediately look familiar. It is a Tubescreamer pedal that is perfect for squeezing the amplifier and adding extra gain if needed. The Menace amplifier looks like many heads and feature controls for gain, bass, mid, treble, presence, and output. Super simple. Then you get a single speaker with a choice of 4 different microphones and an infrared charger. The magic allows for Joey’s post-processing. it seems to be a kind of equalizer to help guitars fit better into the mix. It is certainly better to leave this enabled. Instead of a basic equalizer, we get a fully parametric equalizer. This is followed by a limiter to soften the signal.
Also, the main panel includes a port, input, and output controls, as well as a tuner.
The main purpose of the Menace plugin is to make it as easy as possible to obtain an impressive metallic sound. Fortunately, JST has achieved that goal. You have to do everything you can to make it look bad. Turn it on and you will get the usable sound right away. With minimal adjustments, I found the sounds I needed for the demo videos I made to accompany the analysis. It is so good to use a plugin without having to spend a lot of time making adjustments before you start recording. Joey Sturgis Tones Toneforge Menace is a vicious sound amplifier that adapts to both standard and awake chords, and best of all, the sound fits easily into a mix. Sure, there are options to further tune your tone, if you want to, but why mess with something that looks so good?

Conclusion
This is one of those analyzes where it is difficult to talk a lot about the product. I thought it was basically to connect and disconnect. If you want a modern, aggressive metallic sound, it’s been there from the start. Small adjustments don’t take long, and if you want to adjust the tone, even more, all the options you may need are included. If you want light tones, look elsewhere. For metal, this is obvious. Especially when it costs only $ 79.
